The Drowning
- Tradegy in the name of love
Rather a sorry tale of one man's folly to cross the sea in a storm to see his loved one.

The boat rolled and the storm blew. The rain lashed down.
The captain and his faithful crew, believed they were to drown.
The waves were high, and were crashing against an angry tide.
With all the water down below there was nowhere left to hide.

All hands on deck, they hauled the sail with all their might.
Clawing at knots in ropes that the waves had locked up tight.
In cries that could scarce be heard above the awful onslaught.
Despite the desperate scenes, the hardened sailors fought.

The seas wrest the mast from the hull, and all was lost it seemed.
Flailing rigging swept many sailors overboard, all were doomed.
In the harbour pub, they had told him that it was utter madness.
As land came into sight, only one man was left alive to witness.

The women came down to meet what was left of the ship.
His love was there, the reason for this foolhardy trip.
Nothing he could say would ever justify what they found.
He wished then with all his heart that he too had drowned.
