Kitchen Spider
- Another spider sets up home
Just a simple observation of another little spider that made my home its own. I should note for all you spider lovers out there that I did not injure the creature in any way. Although it is no longer there ...

There's a spider living on my kitchen ceiling,
It comes down from time to time.
It stays and watches while I boil the kettle,
Then hides when I spot it, by rewinding some line.

What does it eat in this most urban of caves?
Can a spider exist on a diet of moths?
And how did it get into my palace of plates?
Perhaps it came free with that packet of dishcloths!

I notice the pickle jar has grown a beard.
And sticks to my hand as I pull it away.
The spider must have been lying in wait
And spun its way in whilst I looked the other way.

Should I be inspired by its intrepid endeavours?
Should I admire this long-legged brute?
Or will I get tired of finding its cobwebs
And lay it out flat with the sole of my boot?

Only time will tell!
