There Is No Hope
- Overheard late night arguments
This is based partly on arguments overheard whilst trying to sleep, but largely imagined. The lady of the tale has been pushed to the point of telling her husband to leave.

There is no hope.
I cannot cope.
Your time is up.
Please now, shut up
And leave.
Let me breathe.

If you don't mean me harm
Then why is my arm
Broken?
Is that another token
Of your affection?
Your desperation?

Yet another mark
That the spark
Has gone out.
Now all we do is shout.
Do you still love me?
Do you want to be free?

I will not repent
Just coz you pay the rent.
I will not agree
To stop you hitting me.
I've said my piece.
Now grant me release.

It's over for the last time.
The last bottle of wine
Smashed against the wall.
I've said it all.
And when you've gone
You will realise - you were wrong.

Goodbye.
Please cry.
Get your anger out.
Have a good shout.
Consider your life
Without me as your wife.

Goodbye ... goodbye.
