The Park
- Boy emplores girl to go for a walk
Inspired by a walk round Southampton common,
a boy suggests all manner of things to get her
to come for a walk. (Reads like a Janet and John book).
Will you come walking, with me in the park?
It's such a nice day, to walk round the lake.
We can picnic there, where they fish all day.
Sit in the tall grass, count catches they take.
Come fly a kite then, and see the thing soar.
Let's reel it out far, till touching a cloud.
Come and play tennis, outside on the grass.
Watched by the kids there, all shouting out loud.
On such a hot day, you can't stay indoors.
So come to the park, it's not far away.
It's lovely outside, no cloud in the sky.
So let's go there now, and not waste the day.
We could go cycling, right round if we can.
There's so much to do, out there in the sun.
Or just for a stroll, if that sounds hard work.
Come to the park then, and let's have some fun.
