To Die At Forty
- Maybe I will have had enough
When I wrote this, I was overcome by the feeling that I may have had enough by the time I make it to 40. But I think my friend Kim has shown me that there is indeed life after 40!

Done what I want to, I've had my time.
To die at forty, would be just fine.
"Life begins then, be glad!" people say.
I wouldn't be sad, to leave that day.

I should say, it's been a good innings.
So stop play, and I'll take the winnings.
I made the wicket, in life's mad dash.
So here's my ticket, I'll take the cash.

"Burn out!" they tell me, "don't fade away."
Go down in history, better that way.
Leave at the top, not after the fall.
Know when to stop, and give it your all.

Age has caught me, I've had my time.
To die at forty, would be just fine.
I'll defend my right, come what may
For my life to end, whatever day.
