A Little Mistake
- Misreading the signs
Another one of life's "can't we just be friends" moments.
Just a small roller coaster of a week. This one is dedicated
to a certain special person.
I was looking up at the birds in the tree, that wasn't there.
I was staring out at space in a daze, and I just didn't care.
Distracted by my inner thoughts, and how they made me smile.
Content to watch the world go by, and stand a little while.
It was only yesterday, that my dream became reality.
Not quite the way I'd seen it, but as wonderful to me.
The scene they fade in movies was happening in style,
Enchanted by the candlelight and your enigmatic smile.
But it seems your intention was not all that I'd dreamed.
Your mind was not quite as clear as I thought it seemed.
In the cold light of day, I see I read the situation wrongly.
You want me as a friend, I should not feel for you so strongly.
It's not the first time that I've been here, I should have learnt.
But I've flown too close to the sun, and my wings have been burnt.
After soaring high in the clouds, it's always hard to plummet.
But I will try my best to guard my heart and overcome it.
I don't want to lose you as a friend, whatever mistake I made.
You are a light in this world, I don't want to be in the shade.
So there it is and there you are, much more than just one kiss.
If it means I can be around you, it's a pleasure I can miss.
