Roll Up Your Green Sleeves
- Some environmental thoughts
A collection of thoughts that came up after the environmental
rock day at the Hobbit.
I cannot understand
What the men in white suits
Are doing to this once clean
And pleasant land.
They say that nuclear is clean
Well yes it is, for a little while
But in the future there's a lot of work
In restoring what should have been.
I fear a move to ban the car
Will falter as sure as eggs go cheep
Because the general population
Cannot walk that far.
It doesn't yet make sense
To cover my roof with solar panels
To bring the light of day to darkness
Because the cost would be immense.
Well cost depends on where you draw the line.
It works out differently if you look
At the impact on the planet's pocket
As well as mine.
It's time to realise, this is not a game.
Time to realise that the underlying aims
Of all our great nations
Should be the same.
We should roll up our green sleeves
And plant the seeds we want to sow.
Little by little it's quite amazing
What a clear sense of direction achieves.
