World Picture
- Our place in the world
A distillation of thoughts I had after speaking with Colin, the Hobbit's resident Shaman. An uplifting and thought-provoking discussion it was.

Paint me a picture with the whole world in it.
Show me the people in lands both near and far.
Capture their faces, their thoughts and actions.
I want to see the human race and how it behaves.

We all were born with the capacity to be as one
Amongst the collection of our human minds.
But we become blinkered by our belief in science,
Cut off from seeing by a faith in something unseen.

So now to see, we must free our minds of normality.
Loose ourselves of the constraints of what we think,
And transcend to an altered state of consciousness.
Free to let the child in us direct our thoughts again.

Our modern minds like to think they have the truth.
Who we are, where we came from, where it will all end.
But most of us are not shamen or enlightened in any way,
Apart from standing near to the neon lights outside.

Paint me a picture with the whole world in it.
Show me what lies within and in between.
Let me hang it on my wall to remind me
Of the part I play in the unbounded earth.
